As I found out today… you can use the iPod 5G adapter or dock with the 3G iPhone. Fits nicely. So, if you have one still around…

THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this! I was about to waste $60 on a new dock and cable to replace my dual dock. 15 minutes and a little prep time, My new 3G is syncing as we speak!

btw, I used a cone shaped sanding tip to shape after using a small cylindrical router bit to take out the bulk of the material and finished it up with 220, then 600 wet sand. after working on sailboats and gel coat for years, a little rubbing compound, then polish next, no one can tell I did anything at all!
